PaperHatBoy: Adventures in Time

Game design has always been an interest of mine, and so when given an opportunity to pick a capstone project I settled on creating an education adventure game for the iphone and ipod touch using the Unity game engine.
My partner Stefanie Krajnyak and I decided to have a narrative based around time travel and then smaller minigame moments to teach various aspects of the scientific possibilities of time travel. It has been a joy to work on, with many new and interesting interactive and design challenges.

Playing with Light

These are initial designs for a game proposed by the STEM center to teach children different aspects of light with ipod touch mini-games. In the end it would be linked to a larger exploratory game where a student character walks around investigating a tomb and learning about light. In this game the player plays with different aspects of light to find their way through a dark maze and activate the light sensor.

Guy Heart Girl

In an effort to test communication without the written word, I worked to create an interactive point and click adventure game.
The player grabs the various colored icons throughout the game and drags them onto characters and objects in the comic scenes to progress. The plot is a simple 'boy meets girl' story with a villain causing various road blocks our hero must deal with. The player experiences the story non-linearly in order to gain all of the objects they need to move forward - going back to see all of the possibilities.

History of Mario

One of my early experiments with Unity. For this project the first and second stage of the Mario game was simplified and recreated, allowing the player to explore the level and read the information cards about how Mario and his games have evolved over time.

Reed Gallery

As part of a group project, we chose to model the Reed Gallery (a gallery within the University of Cincinnati DAAP building) and put our own digital work on display.
